Campers and motorhomes are not for everybody, but they do provide certain groups of people with a vehicle that really does compliment their lifestyle. Sports enthusiasts are most certainly one group of people who fit this category. You may be familiar with seeing campervan near your local beaches and lots of long haired surfers trooping in and out, but these vehicles are not only for surfers.

vw motorhomes

Motorhomes are commonly seen these days in the car parks of golf clubs. These are an ideal form of transport and accommodation for a group of keen golfers. Many motorhomes feature large rear garages, which are ideal for storing the a number of large golf bags and trolleys. Adding in that many golfers will shower and eat a good dinner after their round at the golf club, the bathroom and cooking facilities in the van may not be of the utmost importance for the travelling golfers. Rumour has it that a young rookie Chris DiMarco spent some time playing on the US pro golf circuit in his US style RV.

So what about our surfer dudes. Clearly the campervan with it’s provision for cooking, sleeping and carrying large surf boards is the ideal vehicle to get these fanatical sports people to remote beaches. It was the surf enthusiasts in California who helped develop the cult image around the VW Camper in the nineteen sixties.

Motor sports such as car and bike racing are other sports that lend themselves to use of a motorhome. These pursuits typically involve driving to the race track and staying for an entire weekend, through various rounds of practicing, qualifying and race sessions on top of vehicle maintenance. The clear requirement here is for the vehicle to provide sleeping, cooking and the ability to store and tow. Clearly the motorhome is an excellent choice of vehicle for many sports enthusiasts.

A few years ago, the beauty days of the RVs seemed more remote even than the early-20th-century American landscape that spawned them. But then trailers started popping up across the country-renovated and furnished, with curved interiors wrapped in blond wood and brushed and glittering metal. Motor homes campers are similar to auto industry producing great sales along with bad decline. Just like automotive, gas prices have effect on sales.

During the early 1960s the design of RVs was excellent, but the 70s brought on so call gas shortage and high fuel cost made sale plunder to almost 50%. Recently again with high gas prices plus recession causes leading production business to file bankruptcy.

Jobs and suppliers dropped to 20%. Again like auto industry RV manufacture made a comeback with new ownership of company. Owners can still buy and sell with little problem. Many pros of having a motor-home camper out weight the cons. consider the cost of not needing a hotel room, or the luxury of a bathroom plus kitchen to cook your meals. There is still hope for industry because they have great benefits for all type of racing fans that travel all over the country. Even college sport fans use them. With low gas prices and dealers offering large discounts now is the best time to purchase an RV. How about being able to take grandparents with not having to stop so regular to help them along. Kids can watch movies and play games more easily without disturbing other. You have many options right now to buy or sell. Even plan your dream trip with your family!

Dealers are slashing their prices to move old inventory and many buyers are reporting discounts as low as 5% over dealer cost and in some cases, just a few hundred dollars over invoice. It is always a good idea to do some research before you buy. You can spend some time on the internet as there are many websites and blogs which are devoted to motor home campers. I have also gone through some blogs which review the latest RV units. These reviews can help you a lot in selecting the right RV model according to your needs and desire.

motor homes

If you are considering of becoming a motor home owner soon and you are interested in listing your future investment’s features, it is perhaps wise to begin by examining their different types, or motor home vehicles’ categories, in order to consider which one will better cover your present or future needs. There are three basic types of motor homes, or else called recreational vehicles (RVs), which are generally used for vacating purposes; hence the term “recreational.” Whichever the category one selects to buy the issue here is that these temporary traveling homes are a great way to experience the world and not sacrifice any of the amenities usually found in a hotel room.

While motor homes are categorized into several different types, a minimal RV typically contains beds, a table, a food preparation space and storage compartments. Larger models offer full bathrooms, installed refrigerators, living and sleeping areas, satellite television and internet access capabilities. Ranging in size and prices, there are basically three kinds of motor homes. Class A consists of bus-type custom body vehicles build on a truck chassis and look like busses. Class B motor homes are mainly van campers and travel trailers, while finally Class C RVs are called mini-motor homes and due to their smaller size are much easier to handle on the road and fit nicely in large car parking spots. Having an “L” shaped trailer these motor homes are mostly seen in roads and preferred by most potential motor home buyers.

Having multiple advantages like that one is not forced to move ones things in and out of hotel rooms, is not committed to find and rent multiple rooms to visit different areas and the fact that preparing food always saves money, recreational vehicles are becoming extremely desirable for those wishing not to exceed a certain budget limit. At the same time, RVs provide more organized living spaces and protects its habitats from the extreme weather conditions tend campers have to endure. On the other hand, the low fuel economy, the lack of having a maid service taking care of the daily clutter and the fact that larger motor homes can be difficult to handle on the streets or inside parking lots, might be viewed as disadvantages a potential motor home owner would have to consider before purchasing one.

motorhomes

Have you ever noticed how children love motorhomes, caravans or camping? Whenever a child comes either to collect our motorhome for hire or is staying with us in our motorhome they are simply in heaven. Whether it is the miniature ‘Doll’s House’ scenario, everything you need to live in such a small space, I’m not sure. For families motor homing is a reasonably priced way to spend time together and live an outdoor lifestyle with a lot of creature comforts.

For us, the over cab bed is always a hit with children, something about having to climb a ladder to bed (like bunk beds) and the fact the view is so high (when otherwise, perhaps, children’s’ visual perspective on life is at a much lower level). The fact they have their own private space – with their own light and curtained privacy, I don’t know, but of course the clip up ‘safety net’ which ensures that both the children and parents feel safer and no accidents.

When we were children and my brother slept on his single hammock bed (something which drew much envy from me), my parents always had to tie a loose strap around his middle to stop him turning over in his sleep too enthusiastically and thus flipping himself out of bed – no such problems with the safety net.

At the moment my friend and I are thinking what to do at October half term as 8 year old Anna is desperate to have a trip in the motorhome after her Mum and I went to Yorkshire two years ago in the motorhome to the 21st birthday of one of our Godchildren. I think the arrival of both of us in a motorhome after so long has gone down in family folklore to be retold on numerous occasions in the future.

Apart from the appeal of motorhome living compared to hotels, the outdoor lifestyle is ideal for children, most campsites have play areas, they can run around, often taking their bikes and meet and play with new friends in a pretty safe environment – the battle is usually getting them to come in to eat or at night to go to bed and I don’t remember it being any different when we were children either.

diesel pushers

Do you know the difference between a diesel pusher and a gas powered motor coach? If you are in the market for this top of the line Class A recreational vehicle it will be important for you not only to know what the differences between a diesel pusher and a gas powered motor coach are, but also which one would be best for you and your budget and lifestyle. Many future RV owners may think that cost is the most important factor, but you should also consider power and features as well. The diesel pusher has many qualities which may make it a more appealing and practical choice for your RV.

Don’t be put off by the price tag you see on some diesel pusher models. The top of the line models are generally more expensive than gas powered, but they are also the most luxuriously equipped. Manufacturers do this to appeal to their high-end clients. However, it is also possible to get a smaller or more basic diesel pusher for a price that is comparable to a gas-powered Class A. But remember, the most basic Class A RV is still the most spacious and luxurious recreational vehicle on the market.

A diesel pusher is more fuel efficient and powerful than a gas powered RV. The fuel tank is generally larger as well. This is important if you are planning on towing a car or boat behind your RV. You can also travel farther and up steeper mountains with less engine strain if you have a diesel engine.

Whether you choose a gas or diesel powered motor coach, you will find that they are roomy and have lots of storage space. This makes them appealing for families and people who plan to spend a lot of time on the road. They are fairly simple to drive and maneuver if you have a little practice.

diesel pusher

If you are in the market for a recreational vehicle, you probably know that the diesel pusher is the top-of-the-line model for most manufacturers. Luxury and power are two of the key qualities that distinguish the diesel pusher from other RV models and Classes. But, you may be concerned about the cost of this RV and you may wonder whether the extra expense is worth it for you. The cost will be more than worth it if you are looking for more power, more space, and more luxury, and there are diesel pusher models and financing options to fit many different lifestyles and budgets.

A diesel engine is the most powerful type of over-the-road engine out there. It is what gives the diesel pusher the ability to tow heavy loads in addition to powering it over mountain passes. But, what you may not know is that the diesel engine is also very efficient. A diesel pusher not only carries a lot of fuel, it is actually quite fuel-efficient for its size. Many gas stations now offer diesel fuel as a service for their customers, so finding a place to gas up shouldn’t be a problem.

If you will be taking trips for weeks at a time, or if you will be traveling with a group or your family, you should definitely look at a diesel coach. They are the most spacious RV on the road and they will have room for you and all of your stuff.

Even the most basic diesel motor coaches include standard features that might be considered luxury. So, even if you don’t want to spend a lot, you can still get a high quality RV.

RV lenders have great financing options with low interest rates and flexible terms and there are diesel coaches in nearly every price range.

fifth wheels

For years now we have gone camping knowing that the downside to being in our trailer was the shake, rattle and roll that happens every time someone walks across the floor, climbs on the outside step, or turns over in bed. Don’t even think about jumping up and down or running across the floor! Thankfully, someone came up with the answer to that very problem – stabilizers.

My husband was pretty skeptical that the stabilizers would even work, but I finally convinced him to give them a try. It took him about an hour to put the first stabilizer on, but then he got the idea of how they work and was able to finish up in another hour. He was even more anxious than I was to see what the result would be.

He came into the trailer and sat down after telling me to get up and walk across the room. I did and there was no shaking. He then had me climb the steps outside and there was minimal movement (I doubt he would have noticed any if he hadn’t been watching for it). Finally he had me jump up and down. With that there was a slight movement, but he was amazed at the difference. Of course, I then made him go through the same motions and was so happy with the result that we went over and got our friends and made them watch as well. We were all very impressed.

The next step was to see how easy they were to engage. We pulled up the leveling legs and the stabilizers came right along with them. We lowered them back down and the stabilizers followed. The only thing left to do was to tighten the three handles and the trailer was once again stable. We were sold!

After having used these stabilizers I notice a total difference when I walk into a trailer that does not have any installed. It is a mystery to me why the manufacturers of the fifth wheels and trailers do not have stabilizers automatically installed on each and every unit they produce.

toy haulers

A fairly new addition to the traditional families of RV’s, toy haulers have made an impact in a big way. The last few years have seen toy haulers evolve into sophisticated garages on wheels. Now you can take the home and the garage on the road. Toy haulers appeal to those who love their toys namely motorcycles, quads and other dirt loving toys. Toy haulers are not only for those who love to go off-road, certain creative types also use the toy haulers garage to have a traveling music studio, video production suite, and other unconventional uses.

These haulers come in the flavors of travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers and even some motorhomes. There are also some compact hybrid travel trailers sporting a heavy duty front deck made for hauling dirt bikes and the like. Travel trailer models can range from a single room hauler with built in furniture that fold up against the wall when bringing in the gear for travel, to models with separate front bedrooms in addition to the garage. Fifth wheel coaches can be had with a small garage, galley midship, and an upper level bedroom. Many can be enormous arrangements though, with 10+ foot separate enclosed garages on the back end, and multi-slideout structures in the middle and upper sections.

Several manufacturers have introduced motorhomes with a separate rear garage in the Class C and Class A style coaches. Many models can range as small as 14 feet in the travel trailer models to well over 40 feet in the ultra large fifth wheel mansions. As stated earlier, most of the hauler RV types can be purchased with slideouts. Travel trailers can be found with one slideout, but fifth wheels can sport up to three, greatly enhancing the indoor living experience. The interiors can range from standard RV style appointments, to luxury models with hardwood cabinets, built in washer/dryers, generators, and patio style sliding glass doors separating the garage from the main house.

recreational vehicle

If you have been operating under the assumption that recreational vehicle insurance is not necessary you may end up having problems getting compensated if something happens. There is much more to this kind of insurance than just motor vehicle insurance with higher amounts for theft or liability. Knowing what the differences are for certain types of vehicles is important.

Your RV insurance policy and the coverage you need are going to vary depending on the kind of vehicle you own and operate. You will often find that the coverage you will want to have on a motorcycle or wave runner will be more centered on injuries, theft and damage. Other types of RVs may have more complicated insurance coverage.

You might be surprised to find out that there are differences in the coverage you should have depending on the type of RV you own. For example, you may find that you need higher amounts for injury or theft on a motorcycle or snowmobile than you might on a motor home or trailer. You may find out however that the insurance coverage for things like fire damage may be higher when you have a motor home or trailer.

However, if you are covering a motor home or trailer, there may be much more to your insurance policy. For example, you need to find out if the police you have will cover damage if a toilet leaks, if there is a fire from a kitchen, or if your motor home is broken into and damaged or robbed.

You should always check in with your broker before you do any traveling with your recreational vehicle. You don’t want to find that because a trip went over a certain distance or lasted past a certain length of time that you are not covered if you need to make a claim.

If you do not currently have recreational vehicle insurance, you might want to find a broker that can provide you with coverage. By searching online and with the provider of your residential or vehicle insurance you may be able to get a good deal especially if you are able to combine several policies from the same company.

toy hauler

When looking for a new toy hauler there are many options out there. You might be asking what that even is and we have the answer for you. It is considered to be a recreational trailer. You typically would keep a dirt bike, motorcycle, or even dune buggies in this type of trailer. Not only that but you can also get one with a living area! How convenient is that?

When considering the purchase of a toy hauler, you need to consider how often you would use it and for what. If you are traveling around or going camping somewhere you can use your preferred toy maybe it would be a great idea for you to buy one with living areas. Feel like a rock star with a trailer that has a full kitchen, bathroom, sleeping areas, living areas, cabinets, entertainment such as televisions and cable, and it goes on and on. Not only that, but you can even have solar panels added!

So, are you on the lookout for a recreational trailer? Maybe a toy hauler would be your best bet. No one ever regrets making that kind of purchase. There are other options in regards to trailers too depending on your needs. Maybe instead of recreational usage, you have some livestock to move? Or traveling with a horse? Maybe you just want to travel across the country and live on the road? No matter what, there is an option for you. If you have horses that you travel around with, you can have space for them to be and for you to be and comfortably too.

There are even companies out there that will build you a custom trailer for whatever it is that you need. Bring whatever it is that you need along with you while you travel across America and don’t hesitate to go to a nice camp ground for a night or two to relax in the living quarters that you had custom designed. Doesn’t that sound fun? It is like building your dream home but for the road. Nothing can be better than that.

These trailers even reach out to the musicians across the country. With such comfort, it is better than that subpar van that smells like body odor and cheese. Feel like rock stars as you travel across the country. Add some fun furniture and cushy couches to make it like home. With fantastic options like this, who could ever deny themselves of something so awesome?

There are even families that travel across the country all year long and find these to be their homes. Going across the country enjoying every day life. Parents and children living together in one trailer with enough room for privacy. If that is what your dream is then why not make it come true? There are just so many options out there for people like me and you that there is no excuse not to get some sort of toy hauler. Doing the proper research will insure you the best for your money.
